Duties & Responsibilities: The Information Security Specialist provides direct support and assistance in day-to-day administration of the Information Systems Security program


Information Security. (100%)

  • Classification and Marking. Assist unit members and visitors in the proper classification and marking of all STO, CW, AF SAP, SCI, ACCM and collateral information produced within the Wing. Provide guidance to personnel on the specific requirements for original and derivative classification decisions, as well as proper downgrading and / or declassification instructions.
  • TS Accountability. Maintain multiple databases consisting of all accountable TS STO, CW and / or AF SAP documents and magnetic media (hard drives, compact discs, etc.) stored within each applicable facility, as well as those created, transmitted, transferred and / or destroyed by assigned personnel.
  • Classified Fax Transmission. Document and perform all classified facsimile transmission requirements and maintain a Government-provided database of each incoming and outgoing facsimile transmission.
  • Defense Courier Service (DCS) / Accountable Mail. Manage DCS accounts and all other classified distribution systems (e.g., U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, official courier) used to disseminate classified or sensitive unclassified material.
  • Classified Reproduction. Monitor reproduction equipment and provide guidance to all personnel on the proper procedures for reproducing classified documents.
  • Classified Destruction. Provide guidance on proper procedures for the destruction of classified information. Obtain and maintain authorizations to use destruction equipment; visually inspect destroyed residue to ensure compliance with applicable policy directives. Prepare and maintain destruction records for all accountable TOP Secret documents and media destroyed.
  • Records / Safe Custodian. Serve as custodian for security related records and safes used for the storage of classified material up to and including STO, CW, AF SAP, and SCI documents, as well as those protected by the Privacy Act of 1974.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to work as a team member, communicate, perform office functions and use office tools, customer focused and deliver exceptional performance, and knowledge of SAP processes Knowledge of Federal background check systems
  • Ability to perform information security functions

Minimum Years’ Experience: 9 year’s relevant experience (3 specialized)

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
